Denikaina Ready (Music review), Telugu – Chakri & Yuvan Shankar Raja

Chakri’s Ninnu choodakunda is painfully boring, despite a star voice like Adnan Sami, who sounds strangely off-tune. His Pillandham keka keka is no better – awkward faux-Punjabi start and a non-descript tune. It’s only in Panche kattuko that he gets his groove, literally – foot-tapping kuthu! Yuvan’s Naalage nenuntaanu seems templatized and lackluster, but he scores superbly with Pilla neevalla – the type of ear-worm Yuvan has mastered over the years – a slow-burning melody with minimal orchestration and enchanting interludes, sung by Yuvan himself (along with Shrradha Pandit) in his now-characteristic voice. Trite soundtrack barring sporadic respite from two songs.
